In May 2016, Second Grade students decorated a rain barrel in Art class. They then donated that barrel (along with an undecorated barrel) to the Fruitland Community Center, which serves local students, including those attending FPS and their families. The barrel will help with water conservation at the center and will be used to water the center's garden. The second barrel will be decorated by FCC's Girl and Boy Scouts, many of whom attended Fruitland Schools.

In March 2017, representatives from the Paleo Water Treatment Plant visited FPS. They presented an assembly on water conservation and the water cycle to Second Graders. As a follow-up after the assembly, the students completed water conservation booklets, created water conservation posters, and hung the posters above all sinks and water fountains in the school.
