What we are doing now is only the beginning. In addition to all of the green incorporation happening currently, our Green Team is also looking to the future. Some projects that we are aiming for in the future are:
- An Outdoor Classroom: FPS administration is working with two local Eagle Scouts to create a series of benches and an instructional space/outdoor learning area for our students. - School Garden: Fruitland Primary has been approached by one of faith-based partners to plant a school garden. We hope to incorporate this as part of our Summer Scientist Academy in summer 2018. - Summer Scientist Academy: In summer 2017, Fruitland Primary is hosting a 19-day Summer Scientist academy servicing 120 students. Students and staff will explore environmental and engineering-themed topics through the Engineering is Elementary curriculum through the Museum of Science, Boston. - Lights in Cafeteria: In fall 2017, Fruitland Primary PTA will fund 10% of a $44,000 state grant to provide LED lighting in the school cafeteria and stage. This is the second project in providing energy-efficient lighting in large spaces at FPS. In the summer of 2015, LED lighting was added to the school gym, dramatically reducing building energy usage.
