Every spring, as a follow-up to a series of environmental lessons (and in conjunction with Earth Day), the entire Kindergarten class takes a recycling field trip. They walk to the Fruitland Little League fields to pick up trash, then they eat lunch at the local park. In addition to picking up trash at the park, students are challenged to pack a lunch with as little trash as possible, After lunch, the students walk to the local recycling site, owned by the Wicomico County Waste Management system and situated on City of Fruitland land, collecting trash along the way. With adult help, the students learn to sort all of the trash they collected throughout the day and then recycle it. The Kindergarten students and team are looking forward to this recycling field trip occurring again in April 2017.
